US Logics has developed a patented digital process that could revolutionize the way people interact with their computers, televisions, Blu Ray and DVD media.

TV and film producers are seeking more creative ways to finance and monetize entertainment. With the advent of the internet the paradigm for advertising shifted. The standard way of advertising isn’t working on the web – internet users don’t like banners and popup ads. Most households that use DVR’s spend less and less time watching TV commercials.

Product placement makes up a huge portion of production budgets for TV, motion pictures and music videos. PQMedia, a consulting firm that tracks the product placement market, estimates that placement fees in 2009 were close to $7 Billion in value, rising to $10 Billion by 2010. The problem with most product placement for advertisers is that it is mainly identity Brand recognition. There is no direct correlation between product placements and sales. The Return on Investment is extremely hard to track or quantify.

This new software employs a proprietary “artificial intelligence” that can be trained to identify and track products placed in full motion video. By clicking on an object in motion, or pausing and clicking, the product is placed in a shopping cart, available for purchase or linked to an informational website. The viewer’s focus remains on the video – the software never interrupts the viewer experience unless they choose to turn it on or off.

In the case of a music video, not only are the products shown available for online purchase, artist related licensed products can also be cataloged to include branded tee shirts, caps, CD’s and concert tickets. This introduces a new concept where a moving video could serve as a catalogue for an entire line of products.

It can be broadcast on a website, and is currently in-development to be embedded in motion picture and music video files, DVD’s, and can be used eventually on touch screen or mouse driven TV’s. It can also be used with Smart Phone mobile devices, iPhone, iPad and other portable communications technology.

The possibility for direct sales explodes with this new technology, and the ROI for product placement advertising becomes completely accountable - it can be tracked to the penny over years. In addition, user behavior data can be collected such as which products were selected but not purchased, the demographic and Genagraphic user information of the viewer.
